What is a Tor Bridge?A Tor bridge is a hidden entry node in the Tor network that is not published in the public directory. When users are in countries with heavy censorship (like Iran, China, Russia), connecting to regular Tor nodes may be blocked. Private bridges solve this problem.
What exactly are we doing?
We are setting up a private bridge on a Linux server that:
1. Only allows specific people to connect (unique connection line)
2. Hides traffic using the obfs4 protocol (censors cannot detect it is Tor traffic)
3. Is not registered in the public Tor directory (only those with the line can connect)
4. Provides high security by disabling SocksPort and hiding IP addresses in logs
Our steps in simple terms:
1. Log into the Linux server (Ubuntu/Debian)
2. Run an automated script that installs and configures everything
3. The script generates a unique connection line
4. Give this line to the user to configure in their Tor Browser
5. The user connects to the Tor network through our bridge and browses freely
Benefits of using a private bridge:
· Complete censorship bypass (even in countries with severe restrictions)
· Higher speed compared to public bridges (fewer users)
· More security (only specific people can connect)
· Traffic is undetectable by ISP
· Easy setup with a single command
The command we run:
sudo bash -c "$(curl -sL
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sinatarianian/tor-private-bridge-installer/refs/heads/main/setup-bridge.sh)"
What this command does:
· Installs tor and obfs4proxy
· Configures the torrc file with high security settings
· Generates secret keys
· Creates a unique connection line
Final output (connection line):
obfs4 5.6.7.8:54321 ABC123DEF... cert=xyz... iat-mode=0Give this line only to trusted people. By entering it in Tor Browser, your user can access the free internet without filters.
Final result:
With this setup, we create a secure and hidden tunnel to the Tor network that:
· Only authorized users can access
· Traffic is undetectable
· Has good speed (because it is dedicated)
· Is more reliable than public bridges
To set it up, just run the command above on your server and give the generated line to your user. That is it.
