Winterhalter Wednesday!
Painted by Franz Xaver Winterhalter in 1859, this is perhaps one of the most famous portraits of Queen Victoria.
The Queen can be seen wearing the Robes of State, the Diamond Diadem, along with the coronation earrings, coronation necklace, as well as her Fringe brooch. The Imperial State Crown can be seen next to the Queen, along with a view of Westminster. This portrait was painted as part of a duo, which included a portrait of Prince Albert.
Originally hung on the Ministers Stairs at Buckingham Palace, the painting can now be seen by three Grand Entrance & Marble Hall.
