اشتوگ۳ در ابتدا به عنوان یک توپ تهاجمی متحرک جهت تأمین آتش پشتیبانی مستقیم برای پیاده نظام ساخته شد اما بعدها با اصلاحاتی به عنوان زره پوش ضد تانک مورد استفاده قرار گرفت.
توپخانه های آن زمان با وزن سنگین از تحرک لازم جهت همراهی پیاده نظام پیشرونده، برای منهدم کردن سنگرهای دشمن برخوردار نبودند. اریش فن مانشتاین، ژنرال آلمانی را بنیانگذار توپخانه تهاجمی دانسته اند . فن مانشتاین نخستین بار پیشنهاد بهره گیری از این ادوات در نقش تأمین آتش پشتیبانی مستقیم برای لشکرهای پیاده نظام، را در سال ۱۹۳۵ میلادی با ژنرال لودویگ بک ، فرمانده وقت ستاد عالی فرماندهی نیروی زمینی آلمان در میان گذاشت.
پانزدهم ماه ژوئن سال ۱۹۳۶ دایملر آگ سفارشی مبنی بر طراحی یک خودروی زرهی پشتیبانی پیاده نظام با قابلیت نصب یک توپ ۷۵ میلی متری دریافت کرد. اتاقک ثابت و یکپارچه توپ می بایستی می توانست حداقل تا ۲۵ درجه و حداکثر تا ۳۰ درجه به اطراف بچرخد و برای بالای سر خدمه محافظت تأمین کند. مقرر شد توپ این زره پوش به اندازه ای قابل بالا آوردن باشد که در حالت آتش غیر مستقیم بتواند دست کم تا فاصله ۶ کیلومتری را مورد اصابت قرار دهد. ارتفاع خودرو نیز نباید از قد یک سرباز متوسط فراتر می رفت. همچنین زره پیشین میبایست تاب آوری لازم مقابل گلوله های ضد زره ۲۰ میلی متری و مابقی سطح بدنه در مقابل آتش تسلیحات سبک را دارا می بودند. ستاد کل فرماندهی نیروی زمینی هدف از طراحی این زره پوش را منهدم کردن جایگاه تیربارهای دشمن در برد عملیاتی پیاده نظام و در فاصله حداکثر ۴ کیلومتری تعیین نمود.

The Stug 3 was originally designed as a mobile assault gun to provide direct fire support to infantry, but was later modified to be used as an anti-tank gun.
The heavy artillery of the time did not have the mobility needed to accompany advancing infantry to destroy enemy trenches. German General Erich von Manstein is considered the founder of assault artillery. Von Manstein first proposed the use of these devices in the role of providing direct fire support to infantry divisions in 1935 to General Ludwig Beck, then Commander of the German Army High Command.
On June 15, 1936, Daimler AG received an order to design an armored infantry support vehicle capable of mounting a 75 mm gun. The fixed, integral gun turret was to be able to rotate at least 25 degrees and a maximum of 30 degrees, providing protection for the crew's head. It was decided that the gun of this armored vehicle should be able to be raised to a height that would allow it to hit targets at a distance of at least 6 km in indirect fire mode. The height of the vehicle should not exceed the height of an average soldier. Also, the front armor should have the necessary resilience against 20 mm anti-armor bullets and the rest of the body surface should have the necessary resilience against light weapons fire. The General Staff of the Ground Forces Command set the goal of designing this armored vehicle to destroy enemy machine gun positions within the operational range of the infantry and at a maximum distance of 4 km.

در این نبرد نیروهای ورماخت و متحدانش که در جریان تهاجم آلمان به شوروی، به منظور سلطه بر شهر استالینگراد در کرانه رود ولگا، به آن یورش برده بودند، پس از چندین ماه درگیری خونین، با ضد حمله ارتش سرخ به محاصره درآمدند تا در نهایت روز 3 فوریه 1943 میلادی شکست خورده و فیلدمارشال فریدریش پائولوس، فرمانده ارتش ششم ورماخت به همراه 2500 افسر عالی‌رتبه از جمله 25 ژنرال و بیش از صدهزار درجه دار و سرباز تسلیم ارتش سرخ شدند. از این نبرد با 2.2 میلیون سرباز در طول دوران درگیری و 1.2 تا 2 میلیون کشته و زخمی به عنوان یکی از بزرگ‌ترین و خونبارترین درگیری‌های نظامی تاریخ و نقطه بازگشت جبهه شرقی یاد می‌شود.

In this battle, the Wehrmacht and its allies, who had attacked the city of Stalingrad on the banks of the Volga River during the German invasion of the Soviet Union in order to dominate it, were surrounded by a counterattack by the Red Army after several months of bloody fighting until they were finally defeated on February 3, 1943, and Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus, commander of the Wehrmacht's Sixth Army, along with 2,500 high-ranking officers, including 25 generals and more than 100,000 non-commissioned officers and soldiers, surrendered to the Red Army. With 2.2 million soldiers killed and wounded during the conflict and 1.2 to 2 million wounded, this battle is remembered as one of the largest and bloodiest military conflicts in history and the turning point of the Eastern Front.

از مجموع ۴۵ کشتی جنگی ناوگان بالتیک تنها ۲ رزمناو و یک ناوشکن موفق به فرار می شوند. نبرد دریای تسوشیما در جنگ روسیه تزاری و امپراتوری ژاپن یک نبرد تعیین کننده بود.
نیکلای دوم پس از این شکست چاره ای نداشت جز اینکه برای میانجیگری به تئودور روزولت رییس جمهور ایالات متحده متوسل شود.روزولت با تلاش توانست از توقعات ژاپن برای صلح با روسیه بکاهد.

Battle of Tsushima
On May 27, 1905, the Japanese Navy destroyed the Russian Baltic Fleet, which had set out from the Baltic under the command of Tsar Nicholas II and had reached the sea between Korea and Japan after 8 months, in the Tsushima Strait.
Of the 45 warships of the Baltic Fleet, only 2 cruisers and 1 destroyer managed to escape. The Battle of Tsushima was a decisive battle in the war between Tsarist Russia and the Empire of Japan.
After this defeat, Nicholas II had no choice but to turn to US President Theodore Roosevelt for mediation. Roosevelt managed to reduce Japan's expectations for peace with Russia.
However, Russia's defeat by a small country like Japan had irreparable consequences for the Tsarist regime. Following Tsarist Russia's defeat by Japan, this small country became the dominant power in the Far East.

Despite Belgium's declaration of neutrality, the country was occupied by Germany on 10 May 1940. After 18 days of resistance, Belgian forces were driven to a small area in the north-east of the country and forced to surrender. The decision to end the war was signed by King Leopold III of Belgium without consulting his government. The occupation of Belgium lasted until 1944.
Despite the surrender of the central government, many Belgians managed to escape to England, where they formed a government and army in exile supporting the Allies.

Invasion of France
